    Coaching Under Glass, etc
I highly recommend Harmony University online!

They have tons of courses in performance, singing, coaching, private lessons as a separate item ($50) barbershop history,  quarteting, arranging, etc

They also have shows and coaching under glass, which I originally thought was useless to me, as I am not a director, but as I watched someone else get coached, I started hearing things I had never understood before.

For example, they had top singers come in and change their voice to be nasally, or tense tongue, or having a spot in their range that was going awry, and then apprentice coaches tried to help them solve their issues, and in the end, a Master Coach would give his feedback, and there were 6 different Master coaches, all with slightly different styles.

You can watch in your own time for a few months afterwards as well, or you can participate in the class and ask questions when it is live.

You save $20 if you sign up now, ($99), and you get all the shows, all the courses, all the community connections, (coaches gave out their emails and asked for people to ask them questions). Private lessons are extra. T
In addition, they usually have a la carte options later on that are cheaper.

Your Community Needs Live Music -
    Get Out and Sing

    Jan-Åke Westin
    Friday, May 13
    7:00 pm Eastern

After a long stretch of restrictions, your community craves live entertainment! The great news is you have the solution! Nothing connects people like singing.  You, your chorus and quartets have music within you and you can find ways to get out and sing!

In this presentation, Jan-Åke will share his experiences creating community performances before and during the pandemic. Like others, his choruses and quartets have lost members and gained new members, both of which can limit the performance repertoire. Jan-Åke will give practical tips on how to sing what you know with those who can participate.  He will also touch upon motivators that will get us all singing with a renewed spirit.

Being out in the community also boosts your chances of membership growth and future performances. Start your movement, now!

This session will interest all singers as well as music and administrative leaders.

    Sing With Joy!
Giving to Yourself, Your Ensemble, and Your Audience

    Bill Colosimo
    Wednesday, May 18
    7:00 pm Eastern

As many of us return to live singing with our ensemble friends, it’s more important than ever before that we think of our singing—our voice, our skill, our time, our dedication—as a GIFT to ourselves, our ensemble friends, and our audiences.

When we want to share a gift with someone, we do all we can to ensure it is thoughtfully prepared, wrapped, and delivered in a way to guarantee its highest quality and to bring the greatest satisfaction possible to its recipient.  This class is for all singers, ensemble directors, and administrative leaders, and will cover the things we need to do as we return to “normal” singing activity to guarantee that our gift of song is successfully prepared and offered, including:

    • Restoration of our own voice following the pandemic
    • Recommitment to being a contributing ensemble member
    • Recognizing new and different performance opportunities to serve a song-thirsty community
    • Reaching our community through educational offerings
    • Recharging our leadership and administrative vision and processes to enrich our gift-giving potential

    Directions to the Church
We are going live soon, and as Arlene found out that there are two Summit Avenues in close proximity, we decided it might make everyone's journey better with directions.

Debbie suggested that if you put in 300 Grace Street, Reading, instead of the Summit addressthat will bring you to the same spot, and there aren't two Grace Streets.

    Debbie writes:

Located in the basement of the church at the intersection of Summit Avenue & Grace Streets. (Better directions to Millmont Elementary School) Church is directly across the street from the Elementary School.

If using Lancaster Avenue (at the WaWa turn onto Grace Street uphill just passed 2nd stop sign) church is on right.

If using Route 10, same as Morgantown Rd. Turn onto Summit Avenue (large intersection at landmark UGI) then at 3rd stop sign as you pass elementary school, church is on the left.

So, park on the Street wherever you can find a spot, then stand with your back to Millmont Elementary on Grace Street and face the front door of the Church. Then walk around to the left down on a sidewalk next to a single lane  dead-end alley and the door to enter should be slightly ajar. Debbie is has ordered a sandwich board to stand out in front which should arrive soon. If the door is not ajar, there is a window just to the right where you should be able to look in and see if we are inside.

Be aware that there may be no phone service inside the basement, so if you text, we may not know until after we leave.
